Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory
The Molecular Diagnostics laboratory has broad responsibilities for clinical and research testing of DNA and RNA.
The clinical testing includes disorders such as cystic fibrosis, tumors such as lymphomas, and infectious agents including hepatitis, whooping cough, Lyme disease and sexually transmitted diseases. The lab works closely with public health authorities during disease outbreaks. Development and validation of new clinical tests are performed here. Clinical research studies of hepatitis C virus are being conducted in collaboration with University of Wisconsin-Madison scientists.
