Dennis Maki, M.D., an internationally renowned infectious disease specialist and researcher, received the 12th Marshfield Clinic Heritage Foundation Award at a program December 3
at the Fluno Center for Executive Education in Madison.
Dr. Maki, a native of Edgar, is the Ovid O. Meyer Professor of Medicine, Section of Infectious Disease, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He has served on Marshfield
Clinic’s National Advisory Council since 2004 and is a member of the Clinic’s Independent Compensation Committee.
Speakers at the Award ceremony included:

- Justice Shirley Abrahamson, Wisconsin Supreme Court chief justice
- George Magnin, M.D., retired Marshfield Clinic physician
- Jeffrey Grossman, M.D., University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation CEO
- Gordon Derzon, University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, former president and CEO
- Steven Skoloski, Oscar Rennebohm Foundation president
Richard Leer, M.D., Marshfield Clinic Heritage Foundation president, presented the award. Reed Hall, Marshfield Clinic executive director, was the program’s emcee.
Marshfield Clinic’s Heritage Foundation was established in 1997 to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the community in government, civic leadership, education,
medicine, law or business.
